Current Volunteer Opportunities (Unpaid Positions)
In-House Dental Provider needed for One Day
Opportunity Description: This volunteer opportunity is for Dental providers who enjoy coming to our office to provide care for our patients without incurring the cost of overhead. Our In-House Providers include General Dentists, Oral Surgeons, Pedodontists, Periodontists, Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants. The Interfaith Dental Clinic relies heavily on volunteer support to help reduce the cost of delivering care to our patients. As the clinic grows, so does our need for volunteers. We currently have a six month waiting list for our program. Having the help of volunteers enables the clinic to reduce this wait time so that we can provide care to the underserved in our community more efficiently. The clinic provides volunteers with trained staff, quality materials and the latest equipment, so that our patients continue to receive the best service possible. Volunteers usually work for a 3 hour period and most sign up to come once or twice monthly or quarterly.

Dental Specialists needed for
Opportunity Description: Volunteer specialists work with us on a case by case basis and the treatment they administer is coordinated with our clinical director. Each patient is then referred to them for that single specialist treatment and then sent back to Interfaith. The patient pays on the sliding fee scale percentage set by Interfaith of the specialist’s fee. Payment is made to the specialist at the time of treatment. Patients are counseled to keep all specialist appointments or they are released from the program. Our volunteer specialists play a very important role in the success of our program by offering a level of care that we are not equipped to provide at our facility. They include Prosthodontists, Orthodontists, Endodontists, Periodontists and Oral Surgeons.

"Take One" Dental Providers needed for
Opportunity Description: The “Take One” program of the Interfaith Dental Clinic allows dental practitioners to volunteer their services to our clients in the convenience and comfort of their own offices. The dentist tells us how many of our patients they would like to treat for the year. Interfaith will then screen potential patients and match qualified individuals to the volunteer provider. The patient’s contact and financial information (where they fall on the sliding fee scale) will then be forwarded to the “Take One” volunteer doctor. The patient will be given the volunteer dentist’s office information and instructed to schedule an exam. Some of our Pedodontists prefer this option so that they can sedate if necessary, and some General Dentists prefer to “Take One” so that the cost of traveling to and from Interfaith is reduced for both doctor and patient. “Take One” patients will be required to adhere to the established Interfaith Dental Clinic policies concerning payment, missed appointments, maintaining good oral hygiene, etc. These policies will be reviewed with all volunteers and patients. The volunteer dentist will perform all treatment for his/her Interfaith Dental Clinic patients in his/her office, including the exam and treatment plan. Once a treatment plan is created, the fees are adjusted to reflect the discount offered through our program. The patients will pay the discounted fees only until their treatment plan is complete. Then, they “graduate” from the program and must seek maintenance care at full price with that provider or elsewhere.
